Description
The J.T. & Margaret Talkington College of Visual & Performing Arts, Theatre & Dance Complex is a 50,728 square foot two story addition of the existing Maedgen Theatre building on the Lubbock campus. The new structure will include a two level open lobby and a black box theatre to support both the teaching environment and live productions performed by the college. There are three rehearsal spaces for acting, movement and dance, as well as, a lighting lab, make-up rooms, a green room and dressing rooms. Additional building amenities include three Studio spaces, an instructional CADD Lab with both sound and paint booths, an expansion of the scene shop and music practice rooms that will all support the academic mission of the Theatre & Dance program. Public art, a new administrative suite, additional faculty offices, as well as, technology, life safety and accessibility upgrades will complete the project.
