The proposed facility will provide museum and archive processing and storage spaces, museum exhibit space, meeting room space, video space, an auditorium, office space, and a researcher reading room in a new facility that would be located just outside the northwest Loop 289. The museum and archival storage spaces would include a cold storage, regular archive and museum storage, books, microfilm storage, maps, oversized document storage, large artifact storage, and IT server rooms. The museum exhibit spaces will allow the Vietnam Center and Archive to provide a public showcase of large and small artifacts in historical context in the first phase of a Museum of the Vietnam War. The research room will allow persons to come into the facility to complete research regarding the Vietnam War. |
